13th China-Africa Think Tanks Forum Focuses on Shared Prosperity

The 13th Meeting of the China-Africa Think Tanks Forum (CATTF) convened in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on March 8th, 2024. This crucial gathering brought together over 300 scholars, business leaders, and officials from China and 49 African countries, including the Institute for Strategic and Policy Studies (ISPS).

The ISP’s participation in the forum underscores the organization’s commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange between China and Africa.

The forum served as a vital platform for:

• Accelerating Africa’s Development: Discussions centered around accelerating Africa’s economic and industrialization agenda, a theme deeply resonating with the ISP. The forum provided a platform for the ISP to share its insights and expertise on potential solutions for infrastructure development, technology transfer, and fostering a conducive business environment in Africa.
• Joint Vision for the Future: The gathering produced the « Consensus Among African and Chinese Think Tanks on Deepening Global Development Cooperation, » also known as the Africa-China Dar es Salaam Consensus. This document, to which the ISP likely contributed, outlines a shared vision for development cooperation based on mutual respect, win-win partnerships, and supporting countries in pursuing their own paths to modernization.
• Education and Research Collaboration: The forum emphasized the importance of education and research collaboration between China and Africa. The ISP, with its focus on strategic and policy studies, could play a significant role in fostering joint research initiatives and knowledge exchange in various fields.
