ISPS Participates in the 13th Pan-African Conference on Illicit Financial Flows and Taxation

The Institute for Strategic and Policy Studies (ISPS) participated in the 13th Pan-African Conference on Illicit Financial Flows and Taxation, held from 7th to 12th October 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The conference brought together delegates from across Africa, as well as representatives from Europe, the African Union, development partners, and government officials from various countries. The event served as a vital platform for dialogue and collaboration on addressing the persistent challenges of illicit financial flows (IFFs) and improving taxation systems across the continent.

The Guest of Honour was former South African President Thabo Mbeki, whose landmark report on Illicit Financial Flows, presented twelve years ago, continues to shape global discussions on transparency, accountability, and governance. His insights during the conference reaffirmed the importance of collective action and policy reform to curb financial crimes that undermine Africa’s development.

ISPS’s participation underscored its commitment to contributing to regional and global efforts aimed at promoting good governance, economic justice, and sustainable development.
