The Executive Director of the Institute for Strategic and Policy Studies, Prof. Melha Rout Biel participated at this year African Think Dialogue (ATD) meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, where he delivered a Key note speech.
This year ATD Meeting took place at Rockefeller Hotel in Cape Town between 24th and 27th of March 2025.
The meeting was officially opened with remarks by Professor Zwelinzima Ndevu of Stellenbosch University and Chair of the Inclusive Society Institute which hosted the event and attended by several Think Tanks across Africa for the second time in two years.
This year guest of Honorar was Hon. Alvin Botes, MP, South Africa Deputy Minister of International Relations, Amb. Michelle Gavin, Ms. Febe Potgiester, Head of Policy at Africa National Congress and former South African Diplomat and senior official at the African Union as well as Dr. Georgios Kostakos, Executive Director of the Foundation for Global Governance and Sustainability and Prof. Sakiko Fukunda-Parr of Studley Graduate Program in International Relation, The New School, New York. In addition, Dr. Dylan Craig from the Department of Security Studies, at US National War College and Dr. Philani Mthembu, the Executive Director of the Institute for Global Dialogue were among the presenters.
This year African consultative Meeting focused on US-Africa Relations before and current, with sub-topics such as Africa prospective, the role of middle powers in (re)balancing the global governance system and reviving multilateralism and the UN.
One of the key objective of the ATD is to brings together likeminded African Think-Tanks for the purposes of dialoguing substantive political and social -economic issues confronting the African Continent.
The meeting ended with a closing remarks by Hon. Buyelwa Sonjica, former South African Cabinet Minister and Deputy Chairperson of the Inclusive Society Institute which was the host organization of this meeting.
